Abstract: There are common problems which occur in research funding applications. Some of them are more detrimental to a proposal. Paying close attention to avoiding such problems early when preparing for a funding application could allow academics to use their time more efficiently in revising or refining their proposals after initial submission for internal processing and review, and increase chances of success in obtaining funding.

This seminar will cover key issues in preparing proposals for research funding. It will include points of note in completing the application form for funding, as well as the considerations of writing a budget plan and obtaining research ethics/safety approval. We will also discuss common problems found in proposals, and provide a checklist for proposal preparation.
